My mother’s father’s Native Title Country is Koinjmal (Eastern coastal plains of Central Queensland), Australia.
Primary education: Frenchville State School and began a career in the Arts in 1984 at the age of 40.
Graduated Cairns TAFE College – Associate Diploma Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Visual Arts
Completed numerous certificate courses to achieve higher levels of qualifications relevant to my Professional practice.
Jenuarrie has been a practicing contemporary visual artists and a potter for over 3 decades. She is well known throughout Australia for her active involvement and leadership in supporting other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists, promoting and developing indigenous art production, presentation of artistic creative merchandise in urban and remote Queensland communities.
In her early career she was a member of: the Visual Arts Board of the Australia Council; Chairperson, Australia Council’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Visual Arts Panel; Executive Member, National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Arts Advisory Committee of the Australia Council; Executive Founder-Member, Aboriginal Artist Management Agency.
For Jenuarrie it is vital to her own wellbeing, as she believes that, identifying with one’s own past and being proud of your heritage offers grounding to what you do and how you do it
Jenuarrie has represented Australia’s Indigenous Artists on behalf of the Australia Council in New Zealand, Indonesia, Canada, Germany, Denmark, England, New Caledonia and American Samoa. And more recently, since her retirement from her full position as the Arts Development for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art in the Arts Queensland Cairns Regional Office in 2011, she has represented our Australian Indigenous artists in India as an Invited Guest Speaker.
Since 1998, Jenuarrie has chosen to only exhibit her work in selected commercial galleries throughout Australia and her work has been acquired by numerous major, and regional art galleries across Australia.
